Our classic Curry is made with a tomato sauce spiced with special seasonings, slow-simmered over medium heat to develop its full aromatic richness. Simple and generous, it’s the ideal starting point for discovering our menu of traditional curries, neither too mild nor too spicy, a well-loved, balanced choice.
A dish with a story
The word “curry” is said to come from the Tamil “kari”, originally denoting a spiced sauce, popularised and generalised by British colonists in India.
Every Indian region and family prepares its own curry, with endless variations in spice and technique.
Now a generic international term for any spiced Indian sauce dish, though it remains a precise recipe on our menus.
The word “curry” doesn’t really exist as such in traditional Indian languages: it’s a Western simplification of a far richer, more diverse culinary reality.
